What we started with

We have spent the last three years in the slow and painful process of fixing up a old victorian home that dates back to 1902. We didn’t buy the house with the idea that we would fix it up to sell. In fact, we had to move for my work and we had planned to spend a lot longer here. So with little time and a tight budget we ended up doing a lot of small projects.

When we first moved in the plaster was hanging off the walls, the hardwood floors were covered with ancient carpet or painted, and most of the walls had several layers of wallpaper on them. To make things worse our home sold on the first open house and we ended up having to move in before we could tackle many of these problems.

New Home … Ready or Not Here We Come !

I have decided to capture some of the adventures my family and I have had during the pursuit of our dream to build a house. It is said that moving is one of the most stressful times in our lives. Well, just to make if fun I threw in getting a house that’s over 100 years old ready to sell, three enthusiastic kids, and a wonderful wife who is expecting our fourth child. So hopefully I can document this process which is new to us and hopefully share some of the lessons we’ve learned.
